Course studying: BSc Biology, studied a biology, a psychology and an astrobiology module first semester (Martinmas) and a biology, a psychology and a maths module second semester (Candlemas).
Year of study: first year (going into second year in September) of a four year course
University: University of St Andrews
What is university like?: University has been a great opportunity to meet new people from various different backgrounds, alongside studying. It has allowed me to pursue both academics and sport, developing both as an athlete and as a student. The traditional events held in St Andrews including Raisin weekend and May dip have been a great way to meet new people and enjoy the historic nature of the town and university. Sport at university has allowed me to further develop physically and technically competing in BUCS Premier North league, BUCS National Championship and Scottish Cup.
How did Hermitage Sixth Form support you?: Hermitage Sixth Form allowed me to develop time management and organisation skills by allowing me to study A levels alongside playing football. The support offered to catch up on missed work allowed me to develop these skills which have allowed me to continue to balance football and academic at university level. Additionally, staff at the sixth form supported me through every step of the application process including support writing my personal statement alongside references, allowing me to apply to university with confidence.
Next steps: Continue studies and sport over the next three years at university before looking into post-grad courses and / or full time football.
