Our A level students celebrated a fantastic set of exam results today.

Over three-quarters of students achieved A*, A, B or C grades, which is testament to their hard work and commitment. The number of students who achieved the very top grades of A* and A grade had also significantly improved. Such good results have meant many students have now secured places at their first-choice universities or will see themselves going into employment or training on the job through an apprenticeship.

Whilst all students achieved their own individual success, there were some stand-out performances including: Adrian Grinyer who attained two A* grades and two A grades; Warwick Hope who attained two A* grades and an A grade; Jacob McCreadie who got a clean sweep of three A grades; and Holly Hartford who attained a stunning suite of two A grades and an A*.

Other notable successes were: Alex Farley, Harrison Gerard, Kieron Johnson, Melissa Pomfrey and Maisie Taylor.

Speaking of his results, our top performer, Adrian Grinyer, said: “The whole experience of being in Hermitage Academy Sixth Form has been a great one, especially getting back to face-to-face lessons after the lockdowns. I am really happy with my results and excited to go to Lancaster University to study mechanical engineering.”

Darren Stewart, our Head of School, said: “Today, in some of the most challenging circumstances, we celebrate these inspirational young people and the value they have brought to the school and sixth form community.

“They have done themselves, their families and the school community proud. Their educational journey has been turbulent, but they have shown an inspirational level of resilience to get to where they are today.

“I know that they will go on to have a significant and positive impact in their lives, both near and far. They are true role models for society, and we will watch their future endeavours with pride.”

Stephanie Whitaker, our Head of Sixth Form, added: “I am incredibly proud of the achievements of all of our students which is a result of true dedication and hard work. The sixth form team and I have been in the privileged position to work with these students and watch them develop both their intellect and character to become the amazing young adults they are today. Our students are an absolute credit to their families, the school but most importantly themselves. We wish them all the luck in the world as they embark on the next, exciting stage of their lives.”
