After what feels like a long journey and a nervous wait, Year 11 students at Hermitage Academy finally received their GCSE results today marking the end of two academic years unlike any other Year 11s have ever experienced.

The talent and dedication of the students and their teachers has been rewarded with a set of results to be proud of. Our students have demonstrated a real work ethic and dedication to study that has enabled them to reach their goals and we are delighted for them.

Many students achieved exceptional personal results and we celebrate their hard work and determination with them. They are well deserved and even more so, given the constant difficulties faced throughout this pandemic.

Exceptional results were achieved by:

  • Leah Kelly with an outstanding eight grades 9s and an 8.
  • Manisha Singh who achieved an amazing seven grade 9s and three 8s
  • Dylan Spurr who received six grade 9s and three 8s.
  • Tilly Forster with five grade 9s, three 8s and a Distinction.

Other superb results were also achieved by: Jessica Park, Grace Lea, Chloe-Marie Johnston, Holly Alexander, Chloe Gardner, Molly Brighton, Amy Goodbrand, Alex Davis, Oliver Knighton, Abbie Drinkwater and Ben Sunter.

Our Head of School, Mr Stewart, said:

“At last our students can celebrate all of their hard work and grit with a collection of excellent and well-deserved GCSE passes across the year group. The past two years have been challenging for everyone, especially this year group. The resilience and strength they have demonstrated during this time has been exceptional. We are all very proud of them and excited to see how they progress in the future - good luck.”

Our Executive Headteacher and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the North East Learning Trust, Dr Janice Gorlach, added:

“Our students have worked hard to achieve their wonderful results. They deserve to celebrate their success and have overcome tremendous difficulties in the last two years in order to get to this point. Our students are our greatest source of pride and joy and mean the world to us. I know that our whole community will celebrate with them. I would like to thank our parents and our governors for their constant support to our students and our staff. Well done to all students and good luck for your future endeavours. I wish you every success!”
