Annalei Bartlett

Annalei commenced her career in teaching in 1990, training at Northumbria University gaining a Bachelor's (Hons) Degree in Education. She has experience of teaching at a wide range of primary schools across three different local authorities.

Annalei has also taught in every age phase and has held several leadership posts including early years, key stage one and two, English, science, art and professional development. Prior to her headship at Sacriston Academy, Annalei was deputy headteacher at a large two form primary school in Gateshead.

Annalei is passionate about education and making a difference for the children and families she serves. As Headteacher, she feels it is a privilege to be part of moving a school forward and leading a range of rapid improvements, striving to ensure children adapt to new challenges, find inspiration, develop their curiosity and work creatively.

Sacriston Academy is a true community school and Annalei values this greatly. She shares the real sense of community spirit and pride and strives to promote a culture of high expectations and celebrations of achievements. Annalei believes in always looking for ways to make learning 'irresistible' and creating as many opportunities as possible for children to engage, develop, innovate and express their learning journey.

Annalei is married to Jay, who is a serving Army Officer, has a son Callum, who has recently qualified as an architect and a daughter Sarah, who is in her final year of a primary teaching degree.
