Students will be given the opportunity to investigate and respond to a variety of historical and contemporary sources through different lens-based media including photoshop and dark room development. Students will develop and extend their creative skills to produce a professional portfolio containing a large body of work, responding to a range of contextual sources.
In Year 10 students will investigate key principles of photography whilst building knowledge of practical elements including shutter speed and aperture. A personal and sustained project allows experimentation into a variety of approaches with students themselves making decisions about their creative journey.
Students begin Year 11 with a mock exam which they will have the choice of several starting points, of which they are to base individual projects. With focus on experimentation, artist investigation, image manipulation they are to create personal and meaningful outcomes.
From January, students begin preparation for their externally set assignment, again, responding to one of several starting point set by the examination board. During a 10-week preparation period, students will produce a body of work including investigations and experimentation using a range of relevant sources, resulting in a final exam piece.
