Beamish trip

Our Year 8 students had a brilliant day out at Beamish yesterday, where they were able to explore the wide variety of activities that the museum has to offer, linking their learning to their current geography and history topics of Changing Economic Activity and The Industrial Revolution.

Students took part in an emotive decision making exercise, focussed on the 1842 Collieries Act and voted to decide whether legislation should be introduced to limit those that would be eligible to work underground. Every student was also given the opportunity to go down the mine and experience life as a miner, which was a huge hit (as well as the sweet shop and bakery obviously!).

Thank you Year 8 for being brilliantly behaved and engaged throughout the day!
