Talented Hermitage students have created a 32 feet long mural that has been installed at Chester-le-Street Police Station.

The mural, created in art lessons, is based on the 'proceeds of crime' for which local police granted £1000 worth of funding for photography and sculpting in the art department.

During the project, students learned how crime certainly does not pay in the long run by using source material of photographs of money seizures and learning how criminals have their assets seized!

The police were really impressed with the mural and loved how much could be learned from just looking at it.

Art teacher and project leader, Mr French, said: "I am extremely proud of all the students who took part. We had a great day out at the station and our thanks go out to the police for the £1000 donation, which we are very grateful for."
