February's Head of Year Awards

A round of applause for February's Head of Year award winners.

Year 7 - Miley

Miley has been nominated for the Head of Year Award for her delightful attitude towards other students in the year group. She is polite and pleasant, always helping others when they need it most. She has an impressive 245 positive points which comes as no surprise because of her approach to school life and the community as a whole. The award was even perfectly timed for Miley's birthday! Keep up the fantastic work.

Year 7 - Khalil

Khalil has been nominated for the Head of Year Award because of his incredible resilience shown in school. He is always polite to all staff, and settled really well into life at Hermitage Academy which has been noticed by all staff. He is always smiling and lifts the spirits of others. He enjoys reading and tries exceptionally hard in lessons, which is proven by his 311 positive points. We are really proud of all that Khalil has achieved this year.

Year 8 - Kieron 

Kieron is a polite and courteous young man who is an asset to the Year 8 community. Kieron is a student who consistently adheres to school expectations. He is punctual to lessons, organised with homework and has a fantastic attitude to learning.

Throughout the month of February Kieron's behaviour has been outstanding. Kieron has earned 94 positive points throughout February which is a reflection of Kieron's brilliant attitude to learning. This was the highest across the year group and one of the highest totals across the whole school! An absolutely fantastic month, which is part of a brilliant year so far! Really well done Kieron!

Year 8 - Colby

Colby has made an impressive start to the second term of Year 8, in particular she has excelled during the month of February. Teachers have commented that Colby's attitude to learning is fantastic and that she is demonstrating excellent effort across a range of different subjects. Colby has particularly excelled in languages.  MFL teachers have commented on her brilliant commitment to learning both verbs and different tenses. A brilliant month Colby, well done on achieving the Head of Year Award for February. Keep up the good work!

Year 9 - Ava

Ava has had a fantastic year receiving recognition for her classwork across a range of subjects. This year Ava has accumulated over 300 positive points averaging at least 9 points a week. Ava has received special recognition within Drama as she was on hand to assist with a GCSE performance, she did an amazing job and Mrs Johnson was incredibly grateful. Ava's favourite subject is art, and she is looking forward to developing her skills next year as one of her GCSE choices. Ava always puts 100% effort into all her studies, is polite and courteous and a real asset to the school. Keep up the great work Ava, well done!

Year 9 - Wyatt

Wyatt has been chosen for the Head of Year award due to his work ethic, maturity, and polite nature. He has accumulated over 350 positive points across a range of subjects averaging at least 3 positive points a day. Wyatt's favourite subject is English, he finds analysing stories interesting and loves reading. Wyatt takes advantage of the extracurricular activities we have in school as he loves to attend Warhammer club and David Attenborough club. Keep up the great work Wyatt, well done! 

Year 10 - Leona 

Leona has accrued an impressive 298 achievement points and has achieved subject awards in Health & Social Care and English. Leona is always punctual, polite and an excellent role model for other students. Leona too has extended her learning by taking opportunities such as the recent theatre trip to see The Ocean at the End of the Lane and attending a recent art trip to Durham Cathedral. Leona’s form tutor and teachers always speak so highly of her as she can always be depended on to commit fully to her studies and school life. Leona has always been a contender for the HOY award, and it is a pleasure to reward such a consistently good student. Well done, Leona, with your amazing attitude you will go far! 

Year 11 - Natasha 

Natasha is an outstanding member of the school community! She recently took part in the Duke of Edinburgh award, as well as representing the school in numerous sporting events throughout her time at Hermitage Academy. Natasha is a kind and caring person, supportive towards her peers and helpful around school. She has a mature approach to her studies, dedicating a lot of her time to attending revision sessions which have supported her recent mock exams. Never change Natasha because we think you are amazing! 

Year 11 - Josh

Josh is a polite and pleasant young adult. He has been an extremely hard worker throughout his time at Hermitage Academy but has particularly shown a lot of devotion to learning by attending a vast amount of revision sessions in the lead up to his recent mocks. We have been so grateful for Josh’s commitment to our extra-curricular program, he has represented the school in a variety of sports, including futsal and athletics. Josh loves football and plays for Deerness Valley FC and referees all over the North East! Keep at it, Josh! 

Sixth Form

Natasha studies four subjects and is a dedicated and conscientious student. Her teachers often mention how much hard work and effort she puts into all aspects of her studies. She takes on board all feedback and strives to improve at any opportunity. Natasha also attends all available revision sessions, further demonstrating her commitment to her studies. As well as her excellent work ethic Natasha is such a positive member of the sixth form who is considerate of others and would go out of her way to help anyone.
