A big round of applause is in order for the winners of January's Head of Year awards!
Year 7
Joseph has been awarded Head of Year award as he is consistently fantastic in school. He has been awarded 334 positive points since September, which comes as no surprise as he is always demonstrating the highest of standards. He is kind and thoughtful, often observed engaging positively with other peers in the year group. He has a great sense of humour, is always up for challenging himself and learning new skills! Keep up the brilliant effort Joseph as you are a role model to others in school.
Niamh has been awarded Head of Year award for her contributions to Hermitage Academy's community. She is always happy to help other students, helping them settle into the school. Her kindness has not gone unnoticed! She also contributes brilliantly to school in a sporting capacity. She was recently part of the team that won the Durham City and District Schools Netball Association tournament. Her ethos and rapport with others is evident both in and outside of the classroom. Keep up the brilliant attitude Niamh as you are an asset to the year group.
Year 8
Emily: Following the return to school after the Christmas break, Emily has demonstrated a fantastic attitude to her time in school. Emily has accumulated the most positive points in Year 8 this half term so far, with 84 positive points accumulated. Emily has picked up positive points across a variety of different subjects for both attitude to learning in the classroom and her work outside the classroom in the form of positive homework. A fantastic month, really impressed with the progress made already this year!
Ethan: Following the return to school after the Christmas break, Ethan has demonstrated a fantastic attitude to his time in school. he has continued to improve his attendance.
Ethan has accumulated a significant amount of positive points this half term so far, with 68 positive points accumulated. Ethan has picked up positive points across a variety of different subjects for both attitude to learning but has particularly impressed in Geography and Technology.
A fantastic month, really impressed with the progress made already this year!
Year 9
Charlie is an extremely diligent student who works hard in all of his subjects. He has already achieved over 300 achievement points this academic year. Charlie picks up his achievement points in ICT, Spanish, Geography, English and Maths. Charlie's favourite subject is PE, and he is already looking forward to taking PE as one of his GCSE options. Keep up the great work Charlie, well done!
Layla has picked up over 300 positive points this year. She works extremely hard in her lessons and is very driven to succeed. She has achieved positive points across a range of subjects including Spanish, Geography, Religious studies, English and Art. Layla has been enjoying her Art lessons and she is really looking forward to studying it next year as part of her GCSEs. We are really proud of Layla, keep up the excellent work!
Year 10
Paige is consistently in the top five students for attainment of achievement points. She has also been nominated for subject awards like business. Paige quietly and consistently gives 100% to all of her studies and even though she had to have a short amount of time off school for health reasons, she has not let this affect her studies and progress. Her Head of Year is always impressed by Paige and knows that she will continue in the same way throughout her GCSE studies. A great term so far Paige!
Sam has had an excellent start to 2023. He has achieved an impressive 84 achievement points awarded from all of his eight subject areas. Sam has also been awarded the art subject award and he devotes his time to one of his passions, basketball with impressive commitment. Outside of school Sam also shows this level of commitment as an air cadet and was featured in our 'good news' stories after being awarded not one but two awards for his commitment to air cadets. Well done Sam!
Year 11
Sophie is and always has been, a pleasure to have in Year 11. She has a very mature approach to school life and is extremely aspirational. She is attending revision sessions to support her knowledge and skills in her upcoming GCSEs. Sophie is focused and dedicated to her studies, achieving numerous points for positive attitude to learning in maths, science, geography, drama and Spanish in particular. Sophie takes every opportunity that is given to her, recently completing her bronze Duke of Edinburgh's award and electing to go on an educational trip to Berlin over her weekend. We are so pleased that she is staying at Hermitage Academy for sixth form next year to study media, Spanish and English! We are so proud of you Sophie!
Alex is an exemplary student and a wonderful member of the school community. He always arrives to school on time and well equipped, without fail and is currently on 100% attendance for Year 11. Alex has achieved over 210 positive attitude to learning points, in a variety of his subjects. He is fully committed to his learning, engaging with several revision sessions during his lunchtimes and after school as well as broadening his learning by going on the Berlin trip. Alex is a quiet and polite member of Hermitage Academy and is extremely kind and caring and exceptionally humble. We are really going to miss Alex next year, who plans to go to New College to study media and he hopes to go on to be a journalist. We wish you lots of luck!
