May Head of Year Awards

Date Published:
Friday 27 May 2022

Well done to the two students in each year group who have achieved the prestigious Head of Year Award for May.

At the end of every month, our Heads of Year choose two students from their year group to win an award. The winners get the honour of being on the website and also a prize of their choice; varying from privileges in school (such as a dedicated spot on the astroturf) to a free stationery supply.

Well done to our May winners detailed below.

Year 7

Amelia is an excellent role model for her peers and is always supporting others around her. She is a hardworking student who always gives her best and has received praise cards from several of her teachers. Amelia has received 47 positive points on Easi, and over 167 Laurea stamps. Well done Amelia!

Jaymi has had another very successful half term at Hermitage Academy and he continues to give his best in all lessons. He has 75 Laurea stamps and has received praise cards from staff for his efforts and attitude as well as subject badges for science, geography, IT and technology. Jaymi is an excellent role model to others. Keep up the good work.

Year 8

Jasmine is an absolute delight to have in the year group. She is always smiling and approaches all aspects of school life with enthusiasm. She goes above and beyond in everything she does - this was evident in her fantastic World Book Day costume earlier this year. She represents the model Hermitage Academy student in her dedication to studies and extracurricular contributions, such as being an avid member of the Industrial Cadets club. Keep this up Jasmine!

Well done to Dan, who has recently set some ambitious self-improvement targets. He has shown he is a valued member of the Hermitage Academy community through his maturity, respect and good sense of humour. He has demonstrated resilience in overcoming challenges, which has served him well in lessons across the curriculum. He excels in sports where he is given an abundance of praise for his efforts. His next target is to make that shot from the half court! Keep it up Dan.

Behind the scenes, Daisy is constantly reflecting, improving and extending her learning. Daisy has an amazing sense of humour which comes out when speaking one to one with peers and staff. With this level of diligence and application in all her studies, Daisy will rightly be a leading student in all her subjects. Fantastic work this year Daisy!

Jacob has consistently demonstrated the highest standards of work and achievement in his lessons this year. He always strives to do more and has a natural curiosity which supports his learning. Jacob is also well-mannered and respectful towards all his friends, staff and other students. He is a committed and talented sportsperson and has taken full opportunity of events and competitions throughout his time at the academy. Keep this up Jacob - you have been amazing this year!

Year 10

Luke is a mature student and an excellent role model for his peers. He arrives to school on time every day, immaculately dressed and ready to learn. As well as being popular with his classmates, Luke is kind and empathetic with others. He is also excellent academically and has already reached or exceeded his Year 10 targets in every single one of his GCSE subjects. Luke also manages to be a super footballer and represented the school incredibly in a recent futsal competition - the team progressed to the final and played at the Stadium of Light. Luke dedicates a lot of his time to the sport, as a left-winger and second top goal scorer for his team, South Sheilds (who have recently been promoted!). Well done and keep it up.

You will recognise Ella as being an absolutely incredibly talented acrobatic gymnast. She is one of our country's finest and in half term will travel to Poland to represent Team GB and compete in the gymnastics world cup. Ella trains daily at the Deerness Gymnastics Academy and we are so proud of her achievements outside of school, but also just as proud of all her achievements inside of school. She still manages to be an outstanding student who is always pleasant, positive, and polite. She is fantastically behaved in all her lessons and always ready to try her best, she is reaching her targets in lots of her GCSE subjects.  Ella is always keen to improve her work and perseveres with every task she undertakes.

Hannah is an extremely diligent student who has been working hard toward her final exams. Hannah is a  conscientious student who strives to improve no matter what the challenge is. She is kind natured, and always willing to help her peers. We wish Hannah good luck in her exams and look forward to welcoming Hannah back into the Sixth Form. She is planning to develop her love of English, media, and history as she embarks on her next step toward her goal of becoming a journalist. We are confident that you will succeed and look forward to reading your articles in the future!

Jordan embodies all the qualities that we have within the Academy. He is supportive of his peers, strives for excellence, and is a pleasure to teach. Jordan consistently performs well academically and is working diligently throughout his studies, especially succeeding in physics, maths and business. We are delighted that Jordan will continue his education within the Sixth Form, as he plans to study maths, further maths, physics and chemistry, he then plans to develop his love of maths or business at university. We wish Jordan all the best of luck for his exams and in the future.
