We are ending the half term with some gorgeous music from the Music department for our next 'A Look Inside' feature.
Our Year 11 students are currently working incredibly hard on their performing and composing to attain up to 60% of their GCSE grade by Easter. To perform fluently and confidently and to produce original compositions takes so much dedication and time ‘above and beyond’ the curriculum. Our students are rising to the challenge.
Elle will be recording her vocal solo very soon. She is pictured below rehearsing “Traitor” by Olivia Rodrigo. Elle sings it with such expression and emotion and she is looking forward to recording it for her examination piece soon.
Liam can be seen developing his beautiful composition, using the programme Sibelius. It is written in Ternary Form (ABA structure) and is scored for solo violin with piano accompaniment. Keep composing Liam.
Esme has chosen a tranquil, folk piece called “Coast Road” to perform on her acoustic guitar. It requires real dexterity. Listen below.
Year 10 students are revising for their forthcoming assessments. As Charlotte was preparing hard for her assessment, she produced an excellent revision resource and also completed high level practice questions - see below.
Chloe and Alex alongside the rest of our Year 9 GCSE class have been using the midi-keyboards in the designated computer room, and the Ignite programme to create multi-layered compositions. This is the first time they have created chord sequences adding a bass line, broken chords and even drums individually. Composing has been a real focus this half term. Hear a snapshot of their pieces below.
