Hermitage students have remained positive and ambitious towards future careers this term despite the challenges the current situation is presenting.
Key stage 4 students have been making the most of 'Virtual Work Experience' opportunities by engaging online during lockdown. Manisha Singh in Year 11 enjoyed two placements with Johnson Matthey, a global leader in sustainable technologies. She learned about the application of cutting-edge science to create solutions that make a real difference to the world around us. Manisha’s placements covered experiences in sustainability and scientific research.
Amy Goodbrand (Year 11) and Harriet Hindle (Year 10) took part in a virtual insight day with the NHS: ‘Meet the people behind the masks’. The girls learned about NHS careers where they could make a difference and about work in different roles around the world. They heard from nurses working across a range of disciplines and find out lots more about the profession including the key skills they would need and how they could start to develop them.
Well done to all our proactive and ambitious students actively pursuing opportunities for personal growth and career development.
If you're interested in an NHS Career - why not take a look at the St John's Ambulance Youth Programmes and Cadet schemes which operate across England, enabling young people to learn first aid, build their confidence, and gain important life skills.
