Laurea challenge

We know that we have many extraordinary students that show exceptional commitment and dedication in their work, and we want their efforts to be celebrated. We, therefore, would like to encourage our students to become actively involved in our wider school community and to realise that their experiences whilst at school, stretch further than the classroom.

Our Laurea Enrichment Challenge contains 12 challenges, which cover a broad range of areas. We hope that by completing and achieving these challenges, our students can demonstrate that they are an active and well-rounded citizen, with deep integrity, who respects others and contribute positively to the school community and wider society.

The 12 challenges are:

  • Achieve at least 96% attendance over the academic year.
  • Receive a postcard home for exceptional work in a subject.
  • Commit to an extracurricular club, every term, for the year.
  • Research and write a short report on a topic of your choice relating to one of your favourite subjects.
  • Produce a poster about an aspect of culture in a French or Spanish speaking country for the MFL Department.
  • Create a leaflet or information guide to raise awareness about an aspect of equality and diversity.
  • Collect more than 180 Easi points in the year.
  • Obtain a lapel pin for your work and engagement in a subject.
  • Volunteer to help in school or within the community and submit a review of your experience to your Form Tutor.
  • Read a book and write a review for the English Department.
  • Learn to play or sing a new piece of music and perform it for a teacher.
  • Perform an act of kindness in school towards a student or a member of staff.

Over the remainder of the year, the aim is for your child to complete as many areas of the challenge as they can. Once your child thinks that they have completed a challenge, they should ask their Form Tutor, or relevant teacher, to check and sign their booklet.

There are varying levels of completion, allowing all students, whatever their ability, to be actively involved and able to achieve an award.

  • Four completed challenges = Bronze Award
  • Nine completed challenges = Silver Award
  • Twelve completed challenges = Gold Award

All students will be presented with their awards during our end of year celebrations, with special celebrations for those achieving gold.

Our Laurea Enrichment Challenge was created with the involvement of staff and students from all year groups, and we are really proud to be able to offer this to our wonderful students.
