To celebrate Remembrance Day, our students have been engaged in a wide variety of activities.
Creative students at craft club have been making beautiful poppies, which have been worn with pride around the school. Our book worms in book club have been reading and discussing a moving WWII text and empathising with a child involved at the heart of war.
Each year group attended a Remembrance Day assembly to mark the occasion and explore the different ways of honoring soldiers, veterans and the fallen. During our weekly form time reading, students listened to and discussed the poem ‘We Shall Keep the Faith’ by Moina Michael, who conceived the idea of using poppies as a symbol of remembrance. Everyone took part in a 2 minutes silence, allowing time to reflect and show respect to all those who have served or are currently serving.
Hermitage Academy will remember.
