Virtual school

From Monday 23 March, until further notice, Hermitage Academy is operating virtually, to minimise disruption to students' education as much as possible during this difficult and unprecedented time. We are therefore providing links to useful learning resources which students can use at home.

All students

Work will be uploaded by teachers onto Class Charts. We will do this for the subjects they would normally have on each given day. Students all have their individual login information for Class Charts - https://www.classcharts.com/.

Students will be set work for each lesson. They should read the information and instructions shared with them carefully.

We have provided all students with a blank exercise book to ensure that they can complete work as neatly as they would in school.

Years 10 and 11

Students in Years 10 and 11 may well be directed to complete activities on GCSE Pod and Hegarty Maths. Again, this information will be shared via Class Charts. Again, students all have their individual log in information and can log in via https://www.gcsepod.com/.

Years 11 and 13

Students in Years 11 and 13 have also been provided with additional materials to support their learning. As you will know, the government have suspended all examinations and we will update you on how this will be managed as soon as we know.

Years 12 and 13

Both Year 12 and 13 students will be able to communicate with their teachers through Teams, which is part of Office 365.

Students - what you should do:

  • It is really important for your future to keep working hard and follow the school routine as far as you can.
  • Follow your normal timetable as much as possible.
  • Complete all work to the best of your ability and as neatly as possible.

Parents/carers - what you can do if your child is studying at home:

  • Provide a quiet space for your child to work in.

  • Encourage your child to complete all work to the best of their ability and as neatly as possible.

  • Ask your child about the work they are doing and help them where you can; a great way of doing this is by testing them on what they have learned.

  • Keep your child’s email login details safe and remind them of them where necessary.

  • If you have any general queries, please contact the school enquiry line on enquiries@hermitageacademy.co.uk

What to do if your child is ill:

  • If your child in unable to attend school because they are unwell or because they are self-isolating because of a family member being unwell, please report this as usual to school.

  • Please follow NHS guidance in relation to Coronavirus: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

We understand that this is a difficult and worrying time, and we aim to keep parents and students updated and informed regularly in relation to what is happening with school. Please check our website for further updates.
